What should you do during the August spam update?
If your organic traffic is stable, there is no reason to start making major changes simply because Google announced an update. Because the rollout is still underway, normal ranking fluctuations can occur. Instead, use this as an opportunity to review your site's overall content quality.
Look for.
Large groups of similar pages.
Ask your SEO or content provider if you have pages where most of the content is duplicated and only a city, neighborhood, property type or keyword has changed.
Old SEO content.
This doesn’t apply to most apartment websites, but some that are still blogging may have posts and landing pages that no longer provide much value.
Scraped or lightly rewritten information.
Google specifically identifies content copied or lightly modified from other sites without adding meaningful value as potential spam.
Pages created exclusively for search engines.
If you would never send the page to a customer, include it in your navigation or consider it useful outside of SEO, examine why the page exists.
